Homan League: Week in Review 10/27 - 11/2

A review of action in the fantasy basketball league dubbed "Homan League".   May include free agent pick-ups, trades, DNP's because someone forgot to set their lineup for the early morning Pacific time game.  Also other shenanigans worth mentioning in the fantasy league.  All opinions are solely mine.

Highlights:
Steal of the draft so far has got to be 11th round selection of rookie sensation Michael Carter-Williams who is doing his best impression of a young JKidd.  Besides a 20 pts / 9 asts average, MC-W is also leading the league with 13 steals. (TEAM: David Stern)

Fellow Sixers teammate, Spencer Hawes, or as he is known in some really small circles as 'white dwight', is not getting much publicity for an amazing first 3 games of the season.  His averages of 2 threes, 65% from the field and around 11 boards per game is Kevin-Love-esque.  (TEAM: S7venbyVII)

Proposing the nickname ''what, really?" for Anthony Davis cause that's what people say when they read the box score for the Pelicans.  At any given game, he's capable of recording league highs in rebounds, steals, blocks and/or a combination of the three.  Plus "what really" is a good free throw percentage shooter at the PF/C position. (TEAM: Pres(i)ton)

Often overlooked, especially with the return of Drose, Carlos Boozer is also putting up fantasy MVP-type numbers.  Besides a 22 pts / 8 rebs average, Booz is shooting a blazing 66% from the field and has yet to miss a free throw; that's 100% for you percentage lovers. (TEAM: Swagger)

Nice Pick-Up - Free Agency:
Miles Plumlee (TEAM: Adam Silver): Surprising opposing coaches for his impact and amount of minutes being played and surprising fantasy owners his contributions (Averages: 15 pts / 14 rebs / 3 blks).

Trevor Ariza (TEAM: Just Jrue It):  Contributing treys, rebounds at a high clip right now (Averages: 20 pts / 12 reb / 5 ast)

Uh-oh:
Nice foresight in picking up Vitor Faverani but hasn't played him yet (TEAM: Jae's Dazzling Team)

Four guys (Kobe, Tobias Harris, Danilo Gallinari, and Chase Budinger*) on his roster registering DNP's because of injury (TEAM: kobeking)

*Dropped

Noteworthy: 11/2/2013

Statsheet Stuffers: Nic Batum recorded a triple-double, but only got it on a thirty-footer at the buzzer. Let's feel free to call him "Ricky Nicky Davis"

Anthony Davis had 6 blocks AND 6 steals. If I had to choose between his double 6's plus 25 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists against Batum's trip-dub, I'd pick the Brow's night over Batum's. Although after re-watching that shot, it doesn't look like he was as shameful as r.davis in trying to get that triple-double.  You make the call.

Casual: It's ridiculous how easy Rudy Gay makes this slam on Larry Sanders look.

Way to go: After being really gracious about losing his starting spot, Jeremy Lin was back in the starting line-up tonight after Pat Beverly's latest injury. He played well, tallying 20 pts on 2 treys and the Rockets beat the Jazz to go 3-0. Great to see what seems to be genuinely good guy succeed.

DO NOT: challenge Jason Smith on the weak side.

Wait a minute: Sixers won again! This time beating the Bulls and defending their championship belt for the second time.

Wait a minute #2 : A slick Monta Ellis pass.  What's going on.  It must be early on in the season

Other:  Neat t-shirt set-up by the Bucks last night...As you can see from the photo at the head of this post, the Warriors decided to essentially wear white t-shirts against the Kings...Rondo gave us a look at what he would look like with a Moses/Mike Napoli beard..Ken Jeong was on Sportscenter doing NBA highlights, here is a promo of him practicing his lines.

Video: A Mavericks-themed Spongebob Song

-Baby Mavericks fans everywhere

Noteworthy: 11/1/2013

Swoosh:  Eric Bledsoe hit a beauty to win the game over the outstretched hand of Gordan Hayward.  As mentioned in the last Noteworthy, both these guys didn't sign extensions with their teams by the deadline, so Friday's game felt strangely like two guys proving their worth despite making millions of dollars already.

Blocka Blocka: Paul Pierce on Lebron James, which is weird because it is usually the other way around.

Undefeated at 2-0: Indiana, Houston, San Antonio, quite expected.  Philadelphia and the Suns, oh boy.

Ballin': Vitor Favreni is the name of a starting center in the NBA and he had 18 boards and 6 block shots last night for the Celtics.

Unexpected: Landry Fields I see you been doing those plyometrics this summer!

Other:
NBA Inside Stuff is back and for their first 'Jam Session' highlight reel featured Linkin Park playing a new song as the musical accompaniment, so in this way, life is just as it was when I was 13...I guess Kobe got paid 24 Million yesterday; so just another difference between he and I...season 3 of 'State of Nate" has started and I'm digging that new logo..Kenny Smith made a highly personal and hurtful zinger last night, at least to CWebb.
