The Kings Hang Out At Some DC Monuments

So I guess when you have a matinee game in D.C. on a Sunday and you don't play again until Tuesday night-a mere 6 hours away (Cleveland), the most logical thing is to go check out an American historical monument.  Makes sense and very appropriate considering Monday is president's day.

First, Quincy Acy throwing up deuces with his bearded forefather

Then Demarcus Cousins, Derrick Williams and Acy (again with the two fingers) take one of those candid self shots.

A slight haha to Demarcus calling the sixteenth president "AB" in his instagram caption

and then of course the best for last, Carl Landry throwing up the double hitch-hiker thumbs next to the Washington Monument.

Shoutout to the Kings for reminding us of the upcoming holiday and also reminding us that grown men in sweatshirts and sweatpants can still look hilarious posing next to famous monuments.

Happy New Year 2014 featuring Pelican Big Men

Well that's it for 2013 you guys.  2014 will be quite different for me personally as I will be getting married and probably giving up on my lifelong goal of being able to dunk a basketball two-handed.  However, as time permits, I'll still be regularly throwing things up on ole hoopology.

I hope y'all will continue visiting the blog and gettin' your fill of NBA things through my photoshopped pictures of silly quotes, videos/gifs of basketball players acting really silly or just checking in for all kinds of random news that make the NBA so much fun.

Finally, here's a really blinding "happy new year" video from the tall white guys who play for the Pelicans (Jeff Withey, Ryan Anderson, Jason Smith).

Christmas Day Games and Jammies with Landry Fields and Kevin Durant

Merry Christmas!  Five Games to enjoy today after a quiet Christmas Eve, so don't forget to set your fantasy line-ups and then scroll over to ESPN and then ABC to catch all the t-shirt jerseys that will be worn today.

The line-up of games starts out kind of bad with the Bulls and Nets game becoming a lot less interesting with D.Rose and Brook Lopez out for the season.  Later, two not quite playoff teams (Knicks and Lakers), are playing division dominating teams (Thunder and Heat), but it's Christmas so who knows what kind of JR Smith shooting barrage or Nick Young reverse 360 might happen.  The evening games should be much better with the Big fundamentals-of-video-bombing and the Big Crybaby playing against each other (Rockets at Spurs) and then lots of dunks and threes in the last game of the night between the Clippers and Warriors.

I hope you'll be enjoying the day of hoops in your most comfortable jammies or maybe even some gnome ones like the ones wore by Landry Fields, Kevin Durant and some bros from Hillsong Church in NYC.

Video: What Demarcus Cousins Got Isaiah Thomas for Christmas

Yes Demarcus "Santa"Clausins  strikes again; this time sharing what he possibly got his shifty but stout point guard, Isaiah Thomas.  Maybe it's all the technical fouls and possible fines that Demarcus will face that is making him a little more frugal.  See for yourself, but I don't think that those gifts seem appropriate for what an all-star big man would give to his playmaking guard.

Video: Jared Dudley Wishes You A Merry Christmas

Excuse the bad quality cause I literally held my phone up in the air to record the teevee after I was finally able to stop laughing at Dudley's neck movement.

Two Awesome Christmas-Themed Videos involving Nuggets

Here are two silly and kinda holiday-themed videos.  They are pretty perfect for it being exactly one week until Christmas.

Never seen any proof, but I'm not so sure that Nate Robinson doesn't actually do these smooth moves in the locker room.  In fact, I bet the Nuggets media guys caught a glimpse of Nate pirouetting his way out of the showers and thought:

"what a great idea, let's make an elf video of the players so we can see how it would look if everyone moved like Nate".

On that thought, I actually think that this video would have been more entertaining if they had asked Nate, Timmy Mosgov, and Randy Foye to actually dress up in suspendered elf outfits and record themselves doing these moves.

Then there's this one:

Just in case you thought they left out the other Nuggets, you can see that they were saving Gallinari and the rest of the Nuggets for this late 90's remix.

Demarcus Cousins Wearing Red Jordans With His Santa Outfit

Looks like those J's are probably from the "Toro Bravo" pack from back when I was still in college. Doesn't say much except that  Demarcus Cousins is like every other NBA player that owns Jordans that the rest of us wish we had.

Really respecting Demarcus' commitment to the role in even wearing the spectacles that St. Nick probably wore as well.  Cousins' could complete the rest of the costume if he enlists a certain tiny point guard on his team to dress up as one of santa's little helper elves.  Just an idea, feel free to pass it on to him.

Greg Stiesma With A Christmas Tree

Bout that time to get all your Christmas decorations up, guys.  Here's the Pelicans injured back-up center loading up his truck with what looks like a 6 footer.  Besides an encouragement to get your twinkle lights and blow-up Snowman set up, this picture also serves as a notice that people still bleach their hair in 2013.  A very informationally diverse photo.

Video: One of Those Dancing Elves Memes Starring Some Detroit Pistons

I imagine these things to be funny with almost any faces, but Charlie V definitely made some choice picks with Gigi Datome, coach Sheed and my personal favorite, pouty Josh Smith.  23 days until Christmas, everybody!

Hope everyone is enjoying their thanksgiving! A friendly reminder to express your gratitude to either your  family, friends, dog or whoever it may be that you are thankful for.

No games today, but here are some thanksgiving-themed thangs from around the league for your enjoyment:
  1. Big Baby Davis and Nic Vujevic being asked to carve some Turkey and also about their fave t-day foods after their win over the Sixers
  2. Kyrie Irving Carving Some Turkey while wearing a chef's hat.
  3. Lebron is hosting the Miami Heat team at his Ohio home for thanksgiving dinner.
  4. The New Orleans Pelicans wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving

A Look at This Year's Christmas Jerseys

We are officially nearing 40 days until Christmas, and as a result all around us we can see signs of the coming holiday.  KOST 103.5 is starting their christmas music tomorrow at 3PM and yesterday, pictures of this year's "Christmas"-themed Jerseys were tweeted out as modeled by some of our fave players.  I don't know about you, but this continuing trend of using christmas themed jerseys is neat to look at, just like the holiday-themed shoes that have been the rage since the late 2000s.  Of course the classic Laker Gold and Chicago Bull home reds should never be replaced, but I'm a fan of special holiday uniforms as long as they are on par with the St. Patrick's day all-green jerseys, and/or they have additional subtle designs such as Denver's Christmas game shorts from last year .

However, the trend toward sleeved jerseys has got to stop man.  The beauty of the sleeveless NBA jerseys has always been that it in itself represents the sport.  Whether it be in some peewee city league or in the high school to the college ranks, everyone wears a sleeveless top; although many now will also layer in all kinds of other sleeved shirts (lookin at you Vince Carter and 2012-2013 Dwight Howard).

Please save us from having to wear sleevies by NOT buying these jerseys.  You can look at the whole spectrum of these yucky jerseys on nba.com as well as them being modeled below:

Happy Super Bowl Sunday Y'all

Not a fan of gold-diggers nor solid colored birds, so don't really know who I'm cheering for in tonight's game.  However, it should be noted that Javale Mcgee with his nevada wolfpack roots is bro-bros with the current qb of the niners.

Let this pic sway you either way in your support of the teams playing tonight. I personally am a fan of the too-big sideways starter cap.  So if you were wondering, I'll be cheering for unorthodox hat wearing and Colin Crooked KaeCap-ernick.

Christmas Day Recap: Nice and Naaaaaaah-really

Hope everyone had a great time watching the bonanza of NBA games on Christmas Day.  For a run-down of late night's festivities, I thought I'd get a head start for Santa on his list-making for 2013.

Nice

1) Kobe and Carmelo were both on fire as they shot 14-24 and 13-23 respectively.  Kobe broke the record for most points on Christmas Day set byt he Big O and also got the win, so gonna have to give Mr. Bryant the advantage for the day.

2) Lebron's "no foul" streak ended last night, and that shows how amazing Bron is playing that we get amazed when he registers a foul.

3) Talk about making your Ex regret you.  Omer Asik had 20 points and 18 boards against his former team and the Rockets smashed on the Bulls.

4) The Clippers were showboating even before the game began with their Christmas outfits.  Then they backed up their goofy outfits with a 48 minute highlight reel

5) Nuggets Christmas jersey.  Not much went right for them, but the yellow trim on those fits made Iggy even more majestic flying through the air.

Nah-really:

1) Brooklyn with all their off-season build up is basically at .500 with a 14-13 record.  They could have just stayed in New Jersey if they were going to continue performing so underwelmingly.

2) Kevin Garnett has got to calm down when playing against Gerald Wallace.  If you remember the last time the Celtics and Nets met, Gerald Wallace came to Kris Humpries defense and got in KG's grill.   Last night KG and Gerald Wallace decided to get into a mid-game jersey pinching match and Jared Sullinger being the impresionable rookie that he is decided to follow Garnett's example and get a flagrant a couple plays later.

3) Russ Westbrook shot 5-19 last night which might be a result of an athletic Miami defense except his last four games he has gone 9-28 against the Wolves, 9-21 against Atlanta, 6-18 against the Spurs, and the worstest, 4-13 against the Kings.

4) Let's all get T's tonight: Durant, Ibaka, Westbrook, Lebron and Dwade.  As if these guys didn't get enough attention already

5) Bulls had never lost on Christmas day until last night.  Plus their leading scorer is Nate Robinson so you can safely say that the Bulls really miss DRose.

A Merry Christmas Eve with the Celtics

Enjoy the night before Christmas friends. Try and have as much fun as the celtics did with their reindeer antlers and cat in the hat, hat.

Video: Mavericks Win the Holiday Song Singing Game

During this time of every year, the PR reps for most NBA teams convince their millionaire employees to sing a song or two to wish their fans happy holidays.

Since I am personally a huge fan of NBA players trying really hard to be smooth while singing off a teleprompter, I have been torn about how many of these videos I should post.

However, this year these teams have really stepped up their holiday music videos, including to my memory the first Hannukah song ever sung by a collection of NBA players.  So I've selected, based on my expertise of off-key singing, the best holiday songs by your favorite NBA teams.

Third Place: a shout-out to Omri Caspi, Amar'e Stoudemire and our gefilte fish-loving friends.

Second Place: some teams have tried to up the ante with the production of their videos, such as the technology savvy Warriors and their fancy backdrops:

First Place: The team that takes top prize for most hilarious holiday song has to go to the Mavs.  How many teams can boast a Christmas carol featuring a crooning German, a hilarious American who iss kind-of German, southern drawled OJ Mayo, scatting Shawn Marion and of course a Jim Carey doppleganger coach who isn't too shy to bust a move.

Happy Holidays friends.

Tim Duncan and Tony Parker's Halloween Shenanigans

Sometimes pictures surface online at just the most inappropriate time. Specifically this one which judging by Tim Duncan's Punisher costume and Tony Parker's pirate eyepatch, was taken from the Spurs halloween festivities.

With the sanction of a quarter mill against the Spurs this past week, if the league chooses to NOT additionally throw some ridiculous slap-on-the wrist to TD and TP for pretending to stick up an NBA ref with a shotgun and sword, I'd actually be surprised.

Props to the fella who dressed up as Tims fave ref, Joey Crawford.

Who said the Spurs were a boring team?
