Game Recap: Clippers v. Jazz

I definitely subscribe to the school of thought that any analysis from preseason games as a reflection of a team's future success is as accurate as judging a child's ability to tie their shoes with their future IQ.  There are way too many other factors that could come into play and there are probably a bunch of future geniuses who wear velcro shoes and curly laces.  It's far too early to tell.

However, if you watched last night's pre-season game, you would probably make the conclusion that the Clippers bench is not only crazy athletic, but they are going to keep the Clips in so many close games this year.  CP3 and the rest of the starters are really going to be able to rest down the stretch and when they have had their fill of Gatorade, check back in and finish off teams.

For those who missed it, last night the group consisting of Eric Bledsoe, Jamal Crawford, Matt Barnes, Ronny Turiaf, and Ryan Hollins had an amazing stretch where they not only kept the Clipper's slim lead for crucial stretches, but they also made critical defensive stops and offensive decisions that led to their one-point win.  This is not even considering the fact that key acquistions, Grant Hill and Lamar Odom didn't even see any action and could definitely play a bigger role in this surplus of bench power that the Clips have.

Some highlights from last night included newly acquired and always the one-on-one human-highlight reel, Jamal Crawford, making two acrobatic layups and perennial back-up center, Ryan Hollins, swallowing up a game-winning lay-up attempt by former-Clipper, Randy Foye with 5 seconds to go

With all this discussion of the benefits of having a deep bench for winning a championship, I wanted to see if you guys had any key bench players from the past fantasy basketball seasons that made a key difference to your teams.  I know we are nearing draft day so it is completely understandable if you are keeping your cards close to your chest about those "sleepers".  However, if you are willing to share about past utility players, please comment below.  I'll close this post off by sharing a bench player that helped team "Tmac & Fries" secure a title.

Donyell Marshall / Toronto Raptors / 2003-2004.
